TZDATA [0]
________________________________________________________________________________

The Time Zone Database (called tz, tzdb or zoneinfo) contains code and data that
represent the history of local time for many representative locations around the
globe.

Configuration
________________________________________________________________________________

Begin by first verifying that you have tzdata installed:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

 $ kiss b tzdata && kiss i tzdata

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Look for the available timezones in /usr/share/zoneinfo/:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

 $ ls /usr/share/zoneinfo

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Write your preferred timezone to the /etc/timezone file:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

 $ echo "TZ" > /etc/timezone

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Remember to replace TZ with with your preferred timezone. For example, if I
lived in the US Eastern timezone, I would replace TZ with "US/Eastern".

Lastly, copy the preferred timezone file to /etc/localtime:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

 $ cp TZ_PATH /etc/localtime

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Remember to replace TZ_PATH with with the complete timezone path. For the
example given above, the complete TZ_PATH for "US/Eastern" would be
"/usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern".

As an optional final step, remove the tzdata package.

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

 $ kiss r tzdata

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
